3/31/2024 0 Comments 3d rpg maker games![]() Unity wasn't what I expected, I've grown up with javascript & python and it's really hard to go back to C++/C#. I often dream of bringing RPG Maker over to a more general game engine, thus combining the simplicity of RPG Maker and the versatility of a game engine. sometimes have to do workaround just to make simple changes (well script like Yanfly or VisuStella exists but that's a different case) I literally make money from being a javascript developer, but still feel intimidated from customizing rpgmaker via scripts. I double checked the description and it actually mentions the rpg maker, and also the same developer tag as the other makers.Īlways had a love and hate relationship with rpg maker, always liked the simplicity of rpg maker (first touched game dev because of rpg maker 2000, and even decided to take computer science major because of it) but always annoyed with rpg maker which is very strict and stiff when you want to do something outside the function of rpg maker. ![]() ![]() I haven't touched rpg maker in a long time, until finally I saw an ads for rpg maker unite on steam, I was like "didn't MZ just released?". There's also the fact that sprite formatting will likely be very different: The screenshot already shows a very different type of charset and the tileset tab shows many more tiles, possibly even divided in half-tiles (which is awesome), i have a feeling all the asset guidelines will be extremely different. After all, once again, this is probably not an engine but a plugin. THAT has an upside of potential less restrictions with new packs? But it definitely has the bigger downside of making cross-use with the endless hundreds of styles and assets created for all other KADOKAWA engines unusable. There's no real way to enforce users to "only use assets in rpg maker projects" if the only thing that classifies an Unity project as an RPG Maker Unite project is having a plugin installed, which you could very well never use. But they could just not include Unite in it.Īctually, Unite is an unique case since it's not an RPG Maker in the literal sense if it's anything like what we're guessing. I wonder if this whole Gotcha Gotcha Games thing will retroactively change that license? I don't think they could do that even if they wanted, though, once you allow something you can't just go back and disallow. That being said I simply cannot find that page anymore! Not only that. ![]() So, up to this point, and DLC packs notwithstanding, I believed cross-use was the default for most PC Kadokawa Makers (Console releases are another story simply because the assets were never directly leased to their users and they weren't going to permit sprite ripping) I remember reading on KADOKAWA/RPG Maker JP's official website an immense list of titles with OK cross-use, which included things like RPG Maker 95, 2D Fighter Maker and so forth, all of which of course were never released by Degica. ![]()
